The City of Cape Town has confirmed an 11-hour water shutdown in parts of the municipality due to planned maintenance.
The first planned maintenance is scheduled from 8:00 until 19:00 on Tuesday, 3 June in Parts of Steenberg Golf Estate.
CAPE TOWN AREAS FACING WATER SHUTDOWN
The City of Cape Town said planned maintenance work will result in water supply disruption to these areas:
Parts of Steenberg Golf Estate – As mentioned above, the water supply to these areas will be temporarily shut off from 8:00 until 19:00 on Tuesday, 3 June, to enable the maintenance team to supply and safely install Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) valves to the existing water reticulation pipelines along Debaren Close and Charnwood Avenue.
The area affected by the shut-off will be erven along Debaren Close, Charnwood Avenue and Suddie Close. Residents will experience no water during this period.
Parts of Wynberg – Likewise, the water supply to these areas will be shut off temporarily from 8:00 until 19:00 on Wednesday, 4 June, to enable the maintenance team to safely connect the newly installed water pipeline along Bayview Road, Wynberg at the intersections with Lindley and Bower Road to the existing water supply infrastructure.
The area bounded by Bower Road, Wellington Avenue, Bayview Road, Silverlea Road, Constantia Main Road and possibly the immediate surrounding streets will experience low water pressure or no water during this period.
Strandvale (in Strand) – Lastly, the City of Cape Town said the water supply to Strandvale in Strand will also be temporarily shut off from 9:00 until 20:00 on Thursday, 5 June.
“This will enable the maintenance team to safely install a pressure reducing valve (PRV) on the water supply main to the area. Water tankers will be made available to provide water for domestic use where required,” the municipality said.
