Cameroon – Elite One (Matchday 16): Colombe stays strong, Coton sinks deeper and Gazelle FA proves its mettle

Matchday 16 of Elite One unfolded this Wednesday across stadiums nationwide, bringing major developments in both the title race and relegation battle. The round was highlighted by Colombe Sportive du Sud’s draw away at Dynamo de Douala (1-1), but most notably by Coton Sport de Garoua’s fresh setback, falling at home to Victoria United (0-2)—a defeat that further underlines the Cotton Growers’ current woes in the second half of the campaign.

In Bonamoussadi, Dynamo de Douala held their ground against Colombe Sportive du Sud (1-1) in a fiercely contested clash. After an opener from visiting striker Jean Hughes Eyango, Dynamo answered back through Jefter Arrey, whose powerful shot took a slight deflection on its way in.

Colombe, solid runners-up after Matchday 15, let two points slip away but still maintain their positive momentum in the race at the top.

Canon and Aigle de la Menoua cancel each other out

At Yaoundé’s Omnisport annex, Canon Sportif de Yaoundé and Aigle Royal de la Menoua played out a 1-1 draw. Alex Essono put Canon ahead, but the ever-decisive Blaise Ndiforchu equalized in the 85th minute with a superb free kick.

Aigle continues to show their resilience, while Canon remain on a steady—if unspectacular—run of form.

Coton Sport in crisis, Victoria United takes command

The nightmare continues for Coton Sport de Garoua, beaten 0-2 at home by Victoria United. Goals from Faustin Ambassa and Nko Ghangle pushed the Cotton Growers deeper into doubt as they extend their worrying run of defeats without finding the net.

Victoria United, who already pulled off a shock against PWD earlier in the season, further cement their reputation as giant-killers.

Gazelle FA shines, PWD collapses

In Roumdé-Adjia, Gazelle FA of Garoua delivered a dazzling performance, overpowering PWD of Bamenda 4-2. Marius Kalgong Kada struck twice, with Djakao Amadou and Colbert Bini also on the scoresheet. PWD responded with goals from Boris Fon Kache and Elwood Talikong, but despite a red card, Gazelle confirmed their resurgence since Matchday 15 and now stand out as serious dark horses.

Panthère du Ndé puts on a show in Yaoundé

After their statement win on Matchday 15, Panthère Sportive du Ndé backed it up by thrashing AS Fortuna 3-0. Raphaël Yapendé struck just two minutes in, and Mathew Williams added a brace. Fortuna, struggling for several matchdays now, continue their slide down the table.

The clash between Unisport du Haut-Nkam and Fauve Azur was highly anticipated after their dominant showing on Matchday 15. The leader’s full results will be crucial for the next chapter in the title race.
