Burkina Faso deepens strategic ties with Russia – Converseer

MOSCOW (CONVERSEER) – Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, is forging stronger diplomatic and parliamentary ties with Russia, signaling a deepening partnership between the two nations.

The Burkinabe Head of State, during a high-stakes visit to Moscow, met with members of the State Duma, Russia’s national parliament, as part of a series of engagements to expand cooperation.

Leading the Russian delegation was MP Dimitri Ivanovich Savielev, who heads the parliamentary friendship group with Burkina Faso.

According to the Captain Traore, the talks centered on enhancing collaboration in education, culture, and broader parliamentary relations.

Savielev also highlighted discussions about the Russian House and the Public Diplomacy Center in Ouagadougou, key platforms for cultural and diplomatic outreach.

The Russian lawmakers praised Traoré’s visit and reaffirmed their support for deepening bilateral ties.

President Traoré arrived in Moscow on Thursday to attend the 80th anniversary of Russia’s victory over Nazism, marking a symbolic moment of international solidarity.
