The break between Paris and Ouagadougou is complete. Announced by Burkina Faso on 26 June and followed days later by France‘s reciprocal expulsion of Burkinabè diplomats, it is the culmination of nearly three years of steadily worsening relations since Captain Ibrahim Traoré seized power in a military coup in September 2022.
