Bologna, Porto Eye Morocco’s Winger Othmane Maamma

Safi – Italian club Bologna and Portuguese side Porto are tracking Morocco winger Othmane Maamma, French outlet Foot Mercato reported.

Bologna view Maamma as a potential replacement if Jonathan Rowe leaves for Atalanta, according to the same report. Italian media have also named the Moroccan among the candidates to replace him. Any deal must be completed before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Maamma, 20, is under contract at Watford until 2029. Transfermarkt values him at €8 million (MAD 90 million).

He joined the Championship club from Montpellier at the start of last season. In 25 league appearances, he scored four goals and provided one assist.

Maamma won the Golden Ball as best player of the 2025 under-20 World Cup in Chile, where Morocco beat Argentina in the final. He has one senior cap for Morocco, which called him up to a preparatory camp in May before the 2026 World Cup.

Benfica, Everton, and Crystal Palace enquired about the winger in June but did not reach a deal.

L’Équipe reported interest from Chelsea and Bournemouth in an earlier window, when Watford were reportedly ready to sell.

Watford’s coach commended his pre-season form this month.

No club has made a formal offer, while Watford have yet to comment on the latest reports.
