Bolaños uses the same method with Morocco as he does to deny Russian interference in Catalonia
A minister who lies while serving as Chief Notary of the Kingdom
The position of Minister of Justice of Spain has an associated role that some are unaware of: that of Chief Notary of the Kingdom.
That position means that the Minister of Justice provides public attestation of major state acts. Therefore, if it is intolerable for a minister to lie, it is especially serious when the Minister of Justice of Spain does so, since his lies not only undermine citizens’ trust in the state, but also the credibility of his actions as Chief Notary of the Kingdom, creating legal uncertainty with dangerous consequences.
Bolaños denies Morocco’s role in the migrant invasion of Ceuta
I say this in reference to his statements this Thursday in the Congress of Deputies. The Socialist Félix Bolaños accused the People’s Party and Vox of “disrespecting” Morocco by blaming that country for the migrant invasion in which tens of thousands of Moroccan citizens, coming from Morocco, stormed the Spanish city of Ceuta. The minister added: “there is no evidence whatsoever that Morocco led or instigated the mass entry of people.”
It is certainly astonishing to see a Spanish minister demanding “respect” for a country whose government disrespects Spain by claiming part of our territory, specifically the Spanish cities of Ceuta and Melilla, without the Sánchez government having issued even the slightest diplomatic complaint to the Moroccan government. The Sánchez cabinet seems never to tire of acting as Morocco’s butler in Spain, looking after Moroccan interests more than Spanish ones, as it is making clear with its deplorable role in the Moroccan migrant invasion of Ceuta.
The clearest proof of that role is the invasion itself
Moreover, the most obvious proof that Morocco led and instigated this migratory invasion is the invasion itself. According to The Economist’s Democracy Index, this North African country is a hybrid regime, meaning that its form of government is closer to an authoritarian regime than a full democracy. An assault like that would never have happened if the Moroccan government had wanted to prevent it, and the best proof of this is that on August 15, Morocco prevented an assault by sub-Saharan migrants on Ceuta, nipping it in the bud. The assault of July 30 was carried out by Moroccan citizens, and that favors the interests of the Moroccan government.
For years, Morocco has been using immigration as a weapon against Spain, as we already saw with the assault on the Ceuta fence in May 2021, as revenge after the Sánchez government allowed the Polisario Front leader to be hospitalized in Spain. It was precisely then that Morocco spied on Pedro Sánchez’s mobile phone twice, extracting 2.6 GB and 130 MB of data using the Pegasus cyber-espionage program and giving way to a continuous capitulation by the Spanish Prime Minister to Moroccan blackmail.
In 2024, Bolaños also denied the Russian plot in support of the 2017 separatist coup in Catalonia
This is not the first time that Minister Bolaños has denied authorship of attacks by other countries on our national sovereignty simply because they are not convenient for the political interests of his government. Bolaños already did something similar on November 28, 2014, when he stated: “there has been no Russian plot in support of Catalan independence“. The minister argued at the time that, adhering to the judicial processes, “one cannot speak” of the existence of such a plot. Let us remember that the contacts between Russia and Catalan separatism came to light in 2020 through an investigation by the Civil Guard, which revealed that the Russian government offered them 10,000 soldiers and to pay off Catalonia’s debt as support for the 2017 separatist coup in Catalonia.
It’s not hard to figure out why the minister denied that interference. The erasure of the Russian conspiracy in Catalonia was part of the amnesty granted by Sánchez to his separatist partners in exchange for their support for his reelection in 2023. We recently had the opportunity to discover the role of the socialist dirty sewers department in erasing that Russian interference: one of the Civil Guard commanders who investigated that Russian plot was a target of that PSOE dirty tricks department. With that erasure, the Sánchez government did Putin a great favor, helping to cover up the traces of his attack on our national sovereignty because it suited the separatist partners in the government.
What did Morocco find on Sánchez’s mobile phone in 2021?
If Sánchez is so keen to serve Morocco today, it’s because of the aforementioned case of Moroccan espionage on his mobile phone. We don’t know what data Morocco obtained, but it’s safe to conclude that they found something serious enough for Sánchez to have adopted a shamefully subservient position to Rabat in exchange for Mohammed VI and his government not revealing what they found on that phone. One day Sánchez and Bolaños will have to answer to the courts for their role in both cases. It is intolerable that a Spanish government would betray the interests of our country and cover up for the perpetrators of serious attacks against our national sovereignty in order to gain a political or personal advantage through this cover-up.
