Boishaai fight back to beat Paul Roos

Paarl Boys’ overturned a 21-9 deficit to defeat Paul Roos at Brug Street Stadium, while Rondebosch hammered Boland Landbou and Westville edged DHS on Saturday.

Paul Roos scored two tries, the second from No 8 Tiaan Basson under the posts, to lead 14-6 after 14 minutes in the big game of the weekend. The visitors then scored a third try against 14 men, from a lineout maul, on the half-hour mark to extend their advantage.

But Boishaai hit back with their first try to reduce the gap to just five points at the break and took a 23-21 lead early in the second half through lock Gershorn Pieters.

Paul Roos responded with another lineout maul try only for Bosihaai to capitalise on a wayward lineout throw at the other end of the field.

A late penalty goal then secured a 36-26 victory for the hosts.
