Bafana Bafana latest squad: Hugo Broos turning heads!

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos left a few of South African football fans heads turning in his latest squad which he announced on Thursday.

The South African senior national team will return to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying action on 21 March.

On the day, Bafana Bafana will host Lesotho at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium before traveling to Benin a few days later.

Broos’ men are currently second in Group C with seven points, level with Benin and Rwanda while Lesotho are fourth with five points.

The Belgian mentor has opted for the core of his usual Bafana Bafana team selected from the preliminary squad he announced last week.

However, the inclusion of in-form Thabo Moloisane, the return of Jayden Adams as well as of that of Percy Tau and Lyle Foster were definitely the highlight.

Bafana Bafana understand the importance of beating both Lesotho and Benin as they would be in pole position to qualify for the global showpiece.

They have already beaten Benin 2-1 in the first leg which was played at Moses Mabhida Stadium in November 2023.

The 23-man squad will assemble in Johannesburg on Sunday, 18 March for their first training session on Monday.

Bafana Bafana will then travel to Polokwane later that week for the final preparations of the encounter against their neighbours.
