Asagba Azinge Applauds Tinubu’s Intervention On Asaba-Benin Expressway – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

His Royal Majesty, Asagba Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, the Asagba of Asaba, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for directing the Federal Ministry of Works to urgently tackle the deplorable condition of the Asaba-Benin Expressway.

The monarch described the presidential intervention as a major relief for commuters, traders and residents of Delta and Edo states, particularly the people of Asaba and the wider Anioma region, who have endured prolonged hardship using the strategic highway.

Asagba Azinge said the President’s directive to the Federal Ministry of Works to take urgent corrective measures and accelerate work on the affected sections demonstrated the responsiveness of the Federal Government to the plight of road users.

“For years, road users of the Asaba/Benin Expressway have endured unimaginable hardship, wasted man-hours, incessant vehicle breakdowns and mental stress. A journey of barely three hours often stretches into an entire day,” the monarch said.

He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for responding to the concerns of road users and directing contractors to intensify efforts towards making the highway safe and motorable.

According to him, the rehabilitation of the road would provide significant relief to thousands of motorists and travelers who depend on the route for movement between Delta and Edo states, as well as other parts of the South-South and South-East.

The Asagba also commended the Federal Government for the ongoing rehabilitation of the Asaba-Onitsha Expressway, being executed by Hartland Construction Company.

He noted that the project was nearing completion and expressed optimism that the combined interventions on the two major highways would improve transportation, trade and economic activities in the region.

On behalf of the people of Asaba Kingdom, Asagba Azinge expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for the intervention, stressing that improved road infrastructure was critical to commerce, security and regional connectivity.

“This intervention will boost commerce, security and connectivity between the South-East and South-South regions,” the monarch said.

He further prayed for wisdom and strength for President Tinubu to continue implementing his Renewed Hope Agenda, while urging the Federal Government to sustain its attention to critical infrastructure across the region.
