Anambra bans party uniforms during Tinubu’s visit to ensure neutrality

The Anambra State Government has directed members of political parties and affiliated support groups to refrain from wearing party uniforms during the official visit of President Bola Tinubu to the state on Thursday.

This directive was announced in a press statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, and made available on Thursday morning.

The president’s visit includes a scheduled town hall meeting with stakeholders at the newly renovated Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.

“This is to inform you that everybody coming to Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka for the reception of President Bola Tinubu tomorrow, should be in mufti,” Obiogbolu stated.

“Please nobody should put on APGA clothes, or Support Groups uniforms.”

He said the instruction was given to avoid political rivalry or public displays that might distract from the objectives of the visit.

The directive follows reports that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and various support groups had mobilised to attend the event in uniform.

The president is expected to commission several state projects, including the new government house and the Solution Fun City, during the visit.

On Wednesday, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Anambra State confirmed the deployment of 1,531 officers for security operations in connection with the visit.
