The timing of Amazon’s bid remains unclear, given TikTok’s April 5th deadline, though President Trump has indicated a potential extension. The Times reports that White House officials are not currently “seriously” considering this late-stage proposal. Amazon has declined to comment.
Amazon’s entry adds to a pool of interested parties, including YouTuber MrBeast (backed by investors like Roblox CEO David Baszucki), Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian (part of the “Project Liberty” investor group), and Perplexity AI, which proposed integrating TikTok’s short-form video content into its search engine.
