All-glass, curved iPhone expected in 2027 product line

In a preview of Apple’s anticipated 2027 product lineup, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in his Power On newsletter, detailed a “mostly glass, curved iPhone” with a completely uninterrupted display, marking the iPhone’s 20th anniversary. This aligns with a recent report from The Information suggesting at least one 2027 iPhone model will feature an under-display front-facing camera, achieving a true edge-to-edge screen. While a previous report from The Elec indicated Apple’s work on a bezel-less iPhone, it didn’t mention the curved display seen in devices from Samsung and Vivo.

Gurman’s “mostly glass, curved” description sparks curiosity. Considering the current iPhone 15 Pro, already largely glass with titanium edges, the prediction likely points towards a more radical design. Apple patents, such as a 2019 filing for an all-glass encased phone forming a “continuous loop,” offer potential clues to this envisioned aesthetic.

Beyond the redesigned iPhone, Gurman outlined a significant year for Apple in 2027. He reiterated expectations for the first foldable iPhone and Apple’s entry into the smart glasses market, directly competing with Meta Ray-Bans. Additionally, he anticipates the arrival of rumoured camera-equipped AirPods and Apple Watches in the same year.

Further expanding Apple’s ecosystem, Gurman suggests the debut of Apple’s home robot in 2027. This tabletop device is described as featuring an “AI assistant with its own personality,” evoking comparisons to the charming robotic lamp prototypes developed by Apple’s internal research teams.

Finally, Gurman predicts that 2027 could see the launch of an LLM-powered Siri and the introduction of Apple’s custom-designed chips for server-side AI processing. A prior report from The Information linked this AI chip development to Apple’s Israel-based silicon design group, the same team crucial to the creation of Apple silicon chips for Macs. This comprehensive “product blitz” outlined by Gurman for 2027 hints at a transformative period for Apple’s hardware and software offerings.
