AFC Leopards complete signing of Gambian League MVP ending long transfer saga

Ambani announced the breakthrough on Tuesday, thanking the various individuals who helped complete the transfer.

“Safe skies, Adama. Thank you, Gambia. I salute Sadibou for introducing me to Gambian football. At the same time, Colonel Jammeh, Sainey S. M’Boge and Lamine, thank you too for expediting the transfers smoothly and professionally.

Wishing Adama and Ceesay the best of luck in Kenyan football. Welcome, Adama,” Ambani wrote.

The confirmation comes just days after Medina United publicly addressed reports that the deal had collapsed, insisting negotiations had never broken down despite disagreements over the transfer fee.

In a statement, the Gambian club explained that it fully supported Kanteh’s ambition to further his career abroad but could not agree to release one of its prized assets on a free transfer.

“Contrary to speculation, Medina United FC has not withdrawn from negotiations nor rejected the prospect of Adama pursuing an opportunity abroad. Our position has remained consistent throughout the process,” the club said.

Partizan give up on Ouma in a surprising twist

Medina United revealed that the only sticking point was a request for the player to leave without a transfer fee, a proposal the club considered unfair given Kanteh’s status as one of the country’s finest footballers.

“The only outstanding issue is the request for a free transfer. As a club, we believe this request is neither reasonable nor reflective of the value Adama Kanteh brings to Gambian football.

He is widely regarded as one of the finest players in the league, and Medina United FC has invested significantly in his development and progression.”
