Prime minister of Tanzania Dr.Kassim Majaliwa met with Japan’s Prime Minister, Ishiba Shigeru, who assured him that Japan will continue to enhance its partnership with Tanzania, aimed at stimulating economic growth through opportunities that will arise from this relationship.
The meeting took place today (Thursday, May 29, 2025) at the Prime Minister’s office in Tokyo, Japan, where Dr. Majaliwa said that this commitment further opens avenues for Japanese investors and businesses, along with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to proceed with various development projects.
Dr. Majaliwa took this opportunity to inform the Prime Minister that, in addition to other projects being implemented in the country, Japan, through JICA, should explore the possibility of collaborating with the Tanzanian Government to conduct major repairs on the Morogoro-Dodoma and Kibiti-Lindi roads, which have been damaged due to the ” heavy rains” currently affecting the country.
He mentioned that the Prime Minister of Japan, after receiving this information, directed the JICA leadership and Japan’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Youichi Mikami, to visit these roads and assess the damage, subsequently submitting a report so that the Japanese Government can determine how it will collaborate with Tanzania in its implementation.
On his part, the Prime Minister of Japan praised the ongoing strengthening of cooperation between Tanzania and Japan, promising to ensure that various Japanese companies continue to work with Tanzania to assist in economic growth, social issues, and technology, recognizing that the population in the country is steadily increasing.
This partnership aims to enhance the trade sector between the two countries, with the goal of rapidly boosting the economy alongside various opportunities, including infrastructure and health services.
