A Joint Venture in Innovative Disease Research

The modern hospital and medical excellence center( Nigeria)  in Africa will facilitate the exchange of medical expertise, provide training for professionals, and advance research in cancer, heart diseases, and other critical areas of treatment to enhance healthcare services in Tanzania.

Health Minister Hon. Jenista Mhagama said this today, June 5, 2025, while representing the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the launch of the first phase of the modern hospital and medical excellence center in Africa, which has been established in Abuja, Nigeria.

“This Medical Excellence Center (AMCE) is not only a national achievement for Nigeria but also a beacon of hope, innovation, and resilience for the health sector across Africa, including Tanzania, as it embodies our shared African vision of self-reliance, strengthening regional cooperation, and enhancing health systems in line with Agenda 2063,” said Minister Mhagama.

Furthermore, Minister Mhagama noted that Tanzania will continue to collaborate with Nigeria in the health sector, as Africa becomes stronger through cooperation. The AMCE will serve not only the citizens of Nigeria but also patients from all corners of Africa, including Tanzania.

“I commend the Federal Government of Nigeria, AFREXIMBANK, King’s College London, and all stakeholders for this significant investment of 300 million US dollars; may this serve as a catalyst for initiating similar projects in other parts of Africa,” said Minister Mhagama.
