Day 7 of the Telkom Netball League Power Week 1 delivered a compelling mix of dominant performances and crucial bounce-back victories, as teams continued to jostle for position heading into the final stretch at the Durban University of Technology (Steve Biko Campus) in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday, 30 April 2026.
In a crucial Division 2 encounter, Northern Cape Diamonds showed resilience to secure a 48-44 victory over Free State Sonoblomo in the standout match of the day.
Coming off a heavy defeat earlier in the day, Northern Cape Diamonds needed a response—and they delivered in a tightly contested match that saw both teams exchange scoring runs throughout.
Northern Cape Diamonds held a narrow 26-24 lead at halftime, with the contest remaining finely balanced at 37-36 heading into the final quarter.
A late push saw Northern Cape Diamonds open up a four-point lead in the closing minutes. Despite a late opportunity for Free State Sonoblomo following a handling error, Northern Cape Diamonds’ defence stood firm to secure a vital win. Keletso Gontho (GD) was named Player of the Match for her crucial defensive performance.
Free State Crinums continued their dominant run in Division 1, recording a convincing 60-38 win over North West Flames.

With a suffocating defensive structure and rapid transition play, Free State Crinums took control early, leading 29-18 at halftime and extending their advantage to 43-27 after three quarters.
The result marks their fifth consecutive win, reinforcing their position as the team to beat in Division 1. Free State Crinums are currently positioned at the summit of the Division 1 log.
Earlier in the day, Malawi U21 delivered one of the most dominant performances of the tournament, defeating Northern Cape Diamonds 76-26 in Division 2.

A blistering start saw Malawi U21 race to a 20-5 lead in the opening quarter, before extending their dominance to 40-13 at halftime. Despite defensive adjustments from Northern Cape Diamonds, Malawi U21 maintained their intensity across all four quarters.
Gauteng Jaguars continued their strong form in Division 1 with a 57-43 victory over Kingdom Stars. Leading 27-20 at halftime, Gauteng Jaguars increased their intensity in the third quarter, with their midcourt unit injecting pace and control to stretch the lead.
