Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has sent a message to the Buccaneers faithful ahead of the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.

The Buccaneers thrashed Chiefs 3-0 in the first derby on 28 February at the FNB Stadium and they will be looking for a similar outcome on Sunday as they look to keep their title challenge going.

Speaking during a press conference in Johannesburg, Ouaddou wants the supporters to remain behind the players throughout the encounter.

“My message is just to thank them. Thank them first of all since the beginning of this season. I know that there is some important moment that they are looking for,” Ouaddou said.

“I just ask them to be behind us.  Wherever we go in South Africa, our fans are always with us. So we are expecting the same during that game and I know that the stadium will be packed to be 100% with us, because you know for my players, when they feel the support, when they feel the love of our supporters, our fans they can feel it on the pitch and they feel free to compete.

“But on the other hand, when they feel pressure for example, they boo them, we are human beings, we have a brain, we have a mind. They get stressed so we need them definitely to reach our target. There are still five games. I said at the beginning of this season, and in the middle of this season, that our team are warriors.

“My players are fighting, I have a very strong fighting spirit and we are going to fight until the last game, the last minute  and the last second in the pitch. Whatever happens, you know.”

Pirates have five games to go before the end of the season against Chiefs, Stellenbosch FC, Magesi FC, Durban City and Orbit College, who they face on the final day of the campaign.
