Stormers wing signs for English club

Ben Loader’s new English Premiership club has been confirmed.

The 26-year-old Stormers wing will join Gloucester for the 2025-26 season.

Loader arrived in Cape Town ahead of the 2023-24 season after his club, London Irish, went into administration.

Since then, he has earned 17 Vodacom URC caps for the Stormers and made six appearances in the Investec Champions Cup, scoring a total of seven tries.

In January, Stormers coach John Dobson was resigned to losing the player at the end of this season.

“He wants to play for England and it’s hard to play for England from South Africa,” he said.

Gloucester director of rugby George Skivington said he was “delighted” to bring Loader to Kingsholm.

“Ben was another player at Irish that was thriving there when they ran into their difficulties.

“He’s moved away to a new country and team and used it as an experience to learn and grow and that’s been impressive.

“He’s everything you want from a back three player, fast, powerful, agile and his ability to play wing and fullback will be really handy throughout a long season.”
