The Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Commander, Lieutenant General Oscar Msitu Nyoni, handed Mbewe a staff vehicle from the Air Force fleet at ZAF Headquarters on Monday.
The reward came after Red Arrows eliminated Kaizer Chiefs in the second preliminary round of the continental competition.
Chiefs Upset Brings Reward
Red Arrows progressed after the tie ended 1-1 on aggregate, winning the decisive penalty shootout 3-2 at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The achievement secured the club’s place in the Confederation Cup group stage, with Mbewe now receiving additional support to carry out his responsibilities.
Nyoni said the allocation was in line with established Air Force tradition, under which the Red Arrows head coach is entitled to an official vehicle.
“The vehicle is intended to enable you to perform your duties effectively. It will help you move from one point to another and report promptly at the stadium to prepare the team,” Nyoni said.
The commander explained that the decision followed a request from Red Arrows president Colonel Moses Kambimbi, who had asked for a vehicle to assist Mbewe with his duties.

Nyoni added that the vehicle was provided when resources became available, while congratulating the club on its continental achievement.
He also wished Mbewe and his team success in their upcoming domestic league and CAF Confederation Cup assignments.
The handover ceremony was attended by senior Zambia Air Force officials, members of the Red Arrows executive committee and the club’s technical bench.
