Troops of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD have neutralised two terrorists during a fighting patrol in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The operation was conducted at about 8:55 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2026, when troops of the Civilian Intervention Battalion (CIB) XVI, conducting a fighting patrol from Dekara towards Gidan Zana and Sabon Gida general areas, encountered the terrorists.
Security sources said the troops engaged the terrorists during the patrol and successfully neutralised two of them.
The troops subsequently recovered one HK 21 machine gun and 15 belted rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition from the operation.
The fighting patrol was part of ongoing efforts by troops under Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD to dominate the general area, disrupt terrorist activities and prevent armed groups from establishing freedom of movement across communities in the axis.
Troops have continued to maintain offensive and patrol operations across vulnerable areas to deny criminal and terrorist elements access to communities and key routes.
