Egypt boosts civil aviation ties with Arab, African nations

Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh El-Hefny, held a series of bilateral meetings with transport ministers, aviation ministers, and civil aviation authority heads from several Arab and African nations on the sidelines of the second El Alamein International Air Show (EIAS 2026).

The discussions focused on strengthening joint co-operation, improving air traffic operations, exchanging technical expertise, and supporting the regional growth of the civil aviation sector.

During a meeting with the President of Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Sheikh Humoud Mubarak, El-Hefny stressed the importance of ongoing coordination between the two countries.

Sheikh Mubarak reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to expanding co-operation across various civil aviation domains, with both officials exploring avenues for enhanced collaboration and shared expertise.

Boosting links with Yemen, Somalia

El-Hefny affirmed Egypt’s readiness to provide technical expertise to Yemen during a meeting with his Yemeni counterpart, Mohsen Al-Omari.

The discussions focused on aviation safety, air navigation, training, and supporting the development of Yemen’s civil aviation system.

In another meeting with Somalia’s Minister of State for Civil Aviation Affairs, Abdikarim Abdow Haydar, El-Hefny probed ways to increase air traffic between the two countries and support the development of Somalia’s civil aviation sector.

Minister Haydar, for his part, expressed appreciation for Egypt’s invitation to participate in EIAS 2026, praising the event’s organisation and hospitality.
