Sabah FK Seal Historic Champions League Qualification

The South African forms part of a historic squad, as the Azerbaijani outfit achieved a historic success by defeating Hapoel Beer Sheva 5-2 in the UEFA Champions League play-off round to secure an incredible 6-4 aggregate victory.

The victory means that the side led by head coach Valdas Dambrauskas qualified for the league stage of the Champions League for the first time in its history.

Speaking after the play-off encounter, Dambrauskas could not hide his pride in his players after they secured a place among Europe’s elite.

“My players played very magnificently. Of course, they believed in it,” the tactician said, per the club’s official website.

“They believed every day that they would do this. This is the best team I have ever worked with in my career. And they proved it once again.”

“It was a very difficult situation. Maybe some of you lost hope at the last moment. But they believed in the last match,” he added.

“And we will see what will happen in the future. We have now reached the group stage of the best tournament in the world. We will fight against the best teams.”
