Foreign Minister hails national role of Egyptian press

CAIRO – 18 August 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised the pivotal role played by the Press Syndicate in defending national causes and interests and raising public awareness of the challenges facing the Egyptian state.

Abdelatty stressed the ministry’s keenness to continue strengthening institutional cooperation and coordination with the Press Syndicate, in a manner that would help inform public opinion of the determinants of Egyptian foreign policy and its positions on various regional and international issues.

The remarks came during Abdelatty’s reception of Press Syndicate Chairman Khaled El-Balshy on Monday, August 17, 2026, in the presence of the syndicate’s Head of the Arab and Foreign Affairs Committee Mohamed El-Shazly, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation and ways to enhance communication with the national press.

The meeting also addressed the important role played by the Press Syndicate as well as national press and media institutions in highlighting Egypt’s efforts and achievements across various fields and presenting an objective and informed picture of the challenges and risks surrounding the country.

Such efforts, the meeting noted, contribute to raising public awareness, supporting efforts to safeguard national interests and consolidating the foundations of security and stability in the region.

For his part, El-Balshy praised the existing cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and its keenness to strengthen communication with the syndicate, expressing his aspiration to expand areas of joint cooperation during the coming period.

The two sides agreed to organize regular events, meetings and awareness-raising sessions addressing the determinants of Egyptian foreign policy and its positions on regional and international issues, in addition to implementing joint training and capacity-building programs.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Press Syndicate Chairman presented the syndicate’s shield to the Foreign Minister in recognition of the pivotal role played by his ministry and its various sectors in advancing Egyptian interests, providing consular services, and strengthening bridges of trust and communication with civil society institutions and professional syndicates.
