Araghchi on false-flag operation in Iraq: Our Kurdish friends should remain vigilant

Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Minister, in response to reports of an attack on the office of the Prime Minister of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, stressed that Iran’s Kurdish friends should remain vigilant against false-flag tactics designed to create divisions among neighboring countries.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi wrote on Monday night on X in response to the attack on the office of Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani:

“Nothing can justify the reckless attack on Prime Minister Barzani’s office. Our Kurdish friends should remain vigilant against false-flag tactics designed to sow discord among neighbors.”

Araghchi added: “We supported our Kurdish friends against Saddam and Daesh, and we are grateful for the security they provide along Iran’s border.”

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, commenting on media reports of a drone attack on the office of Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, condemned the attack and described it as a highly suspicious development that must be addressed with vigilance and careful attention.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed Iran’s determination to preserve and strengthen friendly relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq across all areas of mutual interest. He also emphasized the need for all sides to work to thwart what he described as the malicious schemes of the two countries’ enemies aimed at undermining the brotherly relations between the Iranian and Iraqi peoples.

Referring to previous warnings by Iraqi officials, including the country’s national security adviser, about the discovery of cells linked to certain foreign parties that had been involved in planning and carrying out “false-flag” operations in Iraq, Baghaei said that all sides must exercise heightened vigilance in this regard.
