Sanaa — Yemen’s Houthi movement announced that it had launched ballistic missile and drone attacks on Marib province and the coastal city of Mokha, both under the control of the internationally recognized government.
The Houthi‑run Al‑Masirah TV quoted a military source as saying the group’s forces targeted government troop concentrations in Marib and Mokha “with precise and direct strikes,” resulting in casualties and the destruction of weapons depots.
Earlier in the day, the military media of the National Resistance Forces, loyal to the government and stationed along the Red Sea coast, reported that the Houthis fired six ballistic missiles and four drones at Mokha.
On Saturday evening, Houthi forces also carried out multiple missile and drone attacks on Marib, located about 170 kilometers east of Sanaa.
The escalation comes amid renewed clashes across several provinces, as government forces backed by the Saudi‑led coalition and Houthi fighters have traded attacks for more than a month.
Recent Houthi strikes have targeted government camps in Marib, Hadramout, and the western coast, as well as sites inside Saudi Arabia.
Yemen has been mired in conflict since late 2014, when the Houthis seized large parts of the north, including the capital Sanaa.
The Saudi‑led coalition intervened militarily in 2015 to support the government, plunging the country into a protracted war that has triggered one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
