On 13 August 2026 the Founder and Executive Director of ACCORD, Dr Vasu Gounden, hosted the Foreign Minister of Angola, H.E. Ambassador Tete Antonio, at ACCORD House. The Minister is in Durban to attend the SADC Council of Ministers meeting, which is taking place ahead of the upcoming 46th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government meeting taking place from 16 – 17 August 2026.
The Minister was accompanied by the Angolan Ambassador to South Africa, H.E. Ambassador João Baptista Domingos Quiosa and the Angolan Ambassador to Botswana, H.E. Ambassador H.E. Sandro Renato Agostinho de Oliveira. The delegation also included the Director for Africa at the Angolan Ministry of External Relations, H.E. Ambassador Jorge Cardoso, and the Political Advisor to the Minister, Mr Márcio Burity.
Minister Antonio was one of the speakers at the High-Level Intra-African Dialogue and Africa-Europe Strategic Dialogue on “Africa at a Strategic Inflection Point: Agency, Alignment and Resilience in a Fragmenting World, that ACCORD hosted in March 2026.
The meeting provided an opportunity for further discussion on ACCORD, as well as on African Agency.
