Joe Kent says the warmonger class talked Trump into Iran war to destroy his legacy

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Former Director of the National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent said the “warmonger class” talked President Donald Trump into the Iran war in order to destroy his legacy.

“Until Iran, Trump was on track to right the ship domestically,” Kent wrote in a lengthy post on X. “The reality is, this warmonger class has always hated Trump, & they talked him into this mess hoping it would destroy his legacy and derail his administration’s promise to finally put the needs of the American people first.”

Earlier this year, Kent resigned from his role in the Trump administration due to the Iran war, stating that the U.S. only got involved in it because of Israel’s lobbying.

“Trump’s power lies in walking away now and refusing to bow to the pressures of the machine, proving he can’t be controlled,” Kent said. “His supporters will understand that this the right call.”

Over the weekend, Iran issued new demands for reopening the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.

In a statement, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said the U.S. has to permanently end the war with Iran and its armed allies in the region and vow to never threaten Iran again.

“The most powerful thing President Trump can do right now is to just walk away— it’s his best option to end the war with Iran,” Kent said. “To do so effectively, he has to be prepared to dismiss the inevitable onslaught of pressure campaigns and screaming from the pro-war, Israeli lobby neocon crew he’ll undoubtedly face.”

Kent recently told The Yong Turks host Cenk Uygur that he, Kentucky GOP Rep. Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene are working on forming a broad coalition that can also appeal to the left and a new political party could be possible.
