The Federal Government has expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions and reported attacks involving the Houthi militia in Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint and embrace dialogue to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, called on all sides to immediately de-escalate the crisis and refrain from actions capable of endangering civilian lives or undermining regional peace and stability.
According to the statement, Nigeria urged the parties involved to prioritise dialogue, diplomacy and other peaceful means of resolving their differences in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
The government warned that any further escalation of the conflict could pose serious threats to regional security and stability.
Nigeria also reaffirmed its commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes, expressing its readiness to support all genuine and constructive efforts aimed at reducing tensions, restoring calm and promoting lasting peace and stability in the region.
