I Knew Football Was His Destiny at Age Two’ – Haruna Hadi’s Mother Celebrates Sporting Lagos Move

Newly promoted Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Sporting Lagos has strengthened its squad ahead of the 2026/27 season with the signing of highly-rated midfielder Haruna Hadi from 2024/2025 league champions Remo Stars.

The talented midfielder, widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s brightest young prospects, arrives at Sporting Lagos with high expectations after playing a key role in Remo Stars’ recent successes.

Sports247 gathered that Haruna’s mother, Mrs. Harun Hadi Jemilat reflected on her son’s football journey, revealing that his passion for the game became evident from a very young age.

“At the age of two, I noticed that he loved football because whenever we were going to school, anything he saw on the road, he would play with it,” she recalled.

Football, according to the family, has always been part of their heritage. Haruna’s father, Hadi Aruna, was also a football coach, while several members of the family played the game at competitive levels.

“Football runs in the family. Most of my family members have played football to the highest level,” she said.

Despite his rapid rise, Mr. Hadi acknowledged that the journey has not always been easy, urging her son to remain focused as he embarks on a new chapter.

“In football, one must have ups and downs. We pray for him to succeed in his football career. I am proud of him.”

Haruna also dismissed the belief that having a father who was a football coach automatically made his path easier.

“As a young footballer, most of my friends thought it was easy for me because my dad was a coach. But I have been through a lot before becoming a professional footballer,” the midfielder said.

The youngster also had a message for his new supporters after completing the move.

“Hello, Sporting fans, finally I’m here, and I am ready to work.”

Haruna Hadi’s arrival is seen as a major statement of intent by Sporting Lagos as the newly promoted club prepares for life back in the NPFL. With his composure, creativity, and experience despite his young age, the midfielder is expected to play a pivotal role as Sporting Lagos looks to establish itself among Nigeria’s elite in the 2026/27 campaign.
