Presented are pieces from the Bennington Silpakorn collective. A project produced by faculty and students from Bennington College, Bennington, Vermont, and from Silpakorn International University, Bangkok, Thailand. Vibrant Voices, Flowing Scapes is a multi-year collaboration led by U.S. artist and faculty member Jon Isherwood and Susan Sgorbati, director of Bennington College’s Center for the Advancement of Public Action, in partnership with Silpakorn University International College in Bangkok. The project began with an interdisciplinary curriculum that guided Bennington students in researching Thai history, geography, and culture.

The Bennington team later joined students from Silpakorn University International College and faculty artist Karma Sirikogar in a series of voice and poetry exercises. The students’ digitized voice recordings were interpreted through complexity-graphic methods to create an outdoor mosaic installation incorporating glass circles, a mixed-media work by Sirikogar, and a sonic composition by a Bennington student. Together, these elements form a unified expression of dialogue and creativity, celebrating the enduring friendship between Thailand and the United States.
