Italy Supports $211 Million Agricultural and Livestock Project in Angola – News from Embassies
The Italian Ambassador to Angola, Marco Ricci, attended the launch ceremony in Luanda for the Project for the Development of Agricultural and Livestock Value Chains in Eastern Angola (Pdcvarl), presided over by the Angolan Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Isaac dos Anjos. The initiative, funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), involves a total investment of $211.4 million to boost agricultural and livestock productivity, promote job creation, improve food security, and support the development of the agricultural sector in the country’s eastern region. As part of the Mattei Plan for Africa, Rome is contributing $20 million to the project’s implementation, while the African Development Bank is providing the main financing, amounting to $190.4 million. The project will cover the provinces of Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Moxico, Moxico Leste, Cuando, and Cubango and will focus on interventions along the main agricultural and livestock value chains, with the aim of increasing production, improving market access, and strengthening the resilience of rural communities. Italy’s participation reaffirms its commitment to strengthening cooperation with Angola in the areas of agriculture, food security, and sustainable development, in line with the objectives of the Mattei Plan.
