India withdraws 2017 notification restricting travel to Yemen,

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has withdrawn its 2017 notification that restricted travel by Indian nationals to Yemen, following a review of the country’s travel restrictions.

The earlier Gazette Notification No. 3223(E) dated October 3, 2017, has been withdrawn through Government of India Gazette Notification No. 3760(E) dated July 10, 2026.

Despite the withdrawal of the notification, the MEA has reiterated its advisory urging all Indian nationals to refrain from non-essential travel to Yemen due to the prevailing security situation.

According to the ministry, any unavoidable travel should be undertaken only after a thorough assessment of local security conditions, and travellers should avoid active conflict zones.

The MEA has also advised Indian nationals currently residing in Yemen to remain vigilant and restrict their movements within the country.

Additionally, Indian citizens living in or travelling to Yemen have been strongly encouraged to register with the Embassy of India in Riyadh. The ministry said registration will help facilitate communication and enable the embassy to provide assistance in the event of an emergency.

The latest notification withdraws the earlier travel restriction while maintaining the government’s cautionary advisory on travel to Yemen.
