Rulani Mokwena during his time as the coach of MC Alger in their CAF Champions League match against Mamelodi Sundowns in February
Rulani Mokwena could be set for another move in North African football, with Siya sources indicating that Egyptian giants Pyramids FC have identified the South African tactician as one of the coaches on their shortlist ahead of the new season.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Athletic Club mentor is understood to be weighing up his future after a difficult end to his spell with Libyan outfit Al Ittihad SC, where discussions over an amicable separation are believed to be progressing.

Now, Siya sources close to the situation have revealed that Mokwena’s name has emerged in Egypt, with the former CAF Champions League winners believed to be assessing a number of coaching candidates.
“Rulani is one of the coaches who has been short-listed by Pyramids. They are looking at different profiles, and his name is definitely among those being considered. Nothing has been finalised yet, but there is genuine interest in him,” a source told the Siya crew.
The 39-year-old remains one of the most highly regarded young coaches on the continent despite a challenging few months in Libya.
Mokwena joined Al Ittihad in March after leaving Algerian giants MC Alger, where he had guided the club to the Algerian Super Cup and had them firmly on course for the league title before making the switch to Tripoli.
His arrival at Al Ittihad initially showed promise, with the club maintaining its strong form during the regular season.

However, their campaign lost momentum during the championship playoffs, where inconsistent results saw them miss out on CAF inter-club qualification before suffering defeat in the Libyan Cup final.
With an exit from Al Ittihad now appearing increasingly likely, Mokwena’s reputation across North Africa could ensure he does not remain without a club for long.
