A suspected cyberattack on the Argentinian Football Association (AFA) appears to have come from Egypt, a media report said.
Argentina‘s Diario Popular newspaper reported late on Friday that emails were sent in the suspected hack questioning the refereeing in Egypt’s World Cup exit against Argentina on July 7.

According to the report, a statement was emailed from an AFA account to journalists saying among other things: “Argentina did not win. The victory was stolen through corrupt refereeing decisions.”
Information from the association’s database is reported to have been offered in forums by an Egyptian hacker group, which claimed to have gained access to email and IP addresses as well as passwords.
Egypt had led 2-0 in the World Cup last-16 match until the 79th minute before Argentina turned the game around with three goals in around 13 minutes.
Egypt coach Hossam Hassan raged against the refereeing team headed by Frenchman Francois Letexier after two controversial decisions.
The Pharaohs even lodged an official complaint against Letexier and his assistants.
