The Arab League’s General Secretariat has announced that Libya’s capital, Tripoli, will host the 56th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers on 14–15 September 2026, following a series of working group and technical committee meetings set to begin on 12 July at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
Ahmed Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, said the meetings will discuss a number of key issues, including the development of Arab media, regulation of digital media and social media influencers, and strengthening solidarity with the Palestinian people.
He added that the council will also review ongoing negotiations with global media companies and consider a framework aimed at strengthening Arab digital sovereignty, ahead of adopting the recommendations during the ministerial meeting in Tripoli.
