GPA says 1000 KVA Power Generator will boost operational efficiency at EFSTH

The Gambia Ports Authority on Thursday 9 July 2026 commissioned the disbursement of a 1000 KVA power generator to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, a grant it says will boost the hospital’s operational efficiency. 

Delivering his remarks during the handing over ceremony held at the Port’s dockyard in Banjul, Managing Director Ousman Jobarteh described the grant as an aim to boost the capacity of the Hospital’s facility, to deliver quality medical services and healthcare for Gambians. He said the donation reflects the GPA’s continued push to improving service delivery in the health sector. “This is our modest contribution to assist government in delivering quality health service in a very important sector,” he said. He further called for institutional and philanthropy support towards the needs of the hospital, noting that government alone can be overwhelmed in addressing its existing challenges.
