Somali Cabinet approves MoUs with China, India, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan

Mogadishu (HOL) — Somalia’s Council of Ministers on Thursday approved several memoranda of understanding signed with China, India, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan during its weekly meeting in Mogadishu.

The approved agreements include MoUs with the People’s Republic of China on human resource development and scholarships, as well as three MoUs on political consultations with India, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation welcomed the Cabinet’s approval of the agreements submitted by the ministry.

“The approved agreements will strengthen Somalia’s diplomatic engagement, institutional cooperation, human capital development, and regular political consultations, while expanding partnership with friendly countries and creating new opportunities for collaboration,” the ministry said.

The ministry said it remains committed to advancing Somalia’s foreign policy priorities, deepening bilateral relations and supporting the National Transformation Plan 2025-2029 through stronger international cooperation.

It said the agreements are part of Somalia’s broader efforts to pursue peace, sustainable development and shared prosperity through expanded partnerships with other countries.
