Libya, Italy discuss special forces training cooperation

The Chief of General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lt Gen Salah al-Din al-Namroush, has met the commander of Italy’s Joint Special Operations Forces, Vice Admiral Paolo Pezzutti, during an official visit to Italy.

The talks focused on ways to enhance training and capacity-building for Libyan special forces through closer cooperation and by drawing on Italian expertise in the field.

Both sides also discussed plans for a comprehensive training programme aimed at improving the operational capabilities, readiness and efficiency of Libyan special forces.

The meeting comes as part of ongoing military cooperation between Libya and Italy.
