At least 16 people have been rescued and seven others have died in drowning incidents along Libya’s coastline in a single day, according to the Marine Rescue Department.

Spokesman Hatem Ali said the incidents were recorded on Friday across multiple regions, with search efforts ongoing for one missing person at sea.

In western Libya, four people were rescued and three others died. In the central region, four were rescued and two fatalities were reported, while search teams continue to look for a missing individual. In the east, rescue teams saved eight people, although two deaths were also recorded.

Ali said the figures highlight the continuing of drowning incidents despite repeated warnings, urging the public to follow safety guidance and avoid swimming in hazardous conditions.
