Canada vs. Morocco prediction, pick for Saturday 7/4/26

We’re firmly into the Round of 16 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Canadian delegation finished second in their group with a nice goal differential of +5 and brings some upside to the picture after a 1-0 win to open the knockout rounds. However, they’re due up against a Morocco side that notched seven points in their own group, earning a lower +3 differential but downing a significantly better side to open elimination play with an upset on penalties.

Kickoff for Canada vs. Morocco is scheduled for Saturday, July 4 at 1 p.m. ET in Houston, Texas. Let’s dive in for a top prediction and pick on DraftKings Sportsbook for this 2026 FIFA World Cup match.

Best bet for Canada vs. Morocco

  • Morocco ML: It’s been a nice run to this point for the Canadian side, but with Kone done for the remainder of the World Cup and Alphonso Davies’ minutes potentially limited as he works his way back from injury, the knocks are going to hold the squad back. After announcing their arrival with a stellar 2022 World Cup performance, Morocco is also on the rise here and has the makings of a group that can legitimately contend for the trophy. They have the edge in talent here and while it could be close, they should come out ahead on the Moneyline straight up.

Canada vs. Morocco prediction, pick

Canada enters this matchup at 30th in the latest edition of FIFA’s Men’s Rorld Ranking. They’ve dipped a little throughout the course of this tournament, but remain a quality side after what they’ve shown.

The Canadians went just 1-1-1 for four points in Group B play, which began with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina. They followed it up with an outright 6-0 drubbing of Qatar in next match, but a 2-1 loss to Switzerland put a damper on the end of group play. Heading into the Round of 32, Canada downed South Africa 1-0 in a thrilling finish that was scoreless until the 92nd minute when Stephen Eustaquio netted the game-winning goal. Unfortunately, the biggest development to consider from these matches by far is the injury status of a couple of Canada’s best players. Midfielder Ismael Kone suffered a broken leg in his second appearance of the World Cup and his absence will likely be a much bigger issue in these knockout games; captain Alphonso Davies also may have his minutes limited after working his way back from an injury. Still, the latter’s presence should prove integral in this match. Unsurprisingly, Jonathan David remains the centerpiece finisher with three goals in this World Cup, while Cyle Larin trails him with two. Nathan Saliba also has a pair of assists.

On the other side of things, Morocco enters this match as a clear favorite. The nation sits sixth in the FIFA World Rankings and has moved up one spot, recently surpassing Portugal (though these are unofficial marks prior to the next official update on July 20.

Morocco had a real shot to take first in Group C, but fell short to Brazil on goal differential. This side did go 2-1-0 though, with some solid results at that. A 1-1 draw with the Brazilians was a quality start to group play followed by a pair of wins; 1-0 over Scotland and 4-2 over Haiti. Once they got to the Round of 32, the Moroccans pulled off one of the most impressive upsets of the tournament in a tough draw against the Netherlands. After the match went to penalties at 1-1 after regular time, they ended up with a decisive 3-2 result in the shootout to advance. Ismael Saibari leads the team with three goals in the World Cup while four other players have one apiece, and Brahim Diaz has a pair of assists as well as one of the squad’s top creators. Achraf Hakimi is probably the best football talent of this roster and has created double the number of chances compared to any of his teammates.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Morocco is a -115 favorite on the Moneyline (limited to regular time) and comes in at -235 to advance. Conversely, Canada holds +340 odds on the Moneyline and is +190 to advance. Bettors can also get a draw at +240 value.

Were the Canadian side fully healthy with Kone in the starting XI, this might be a legitimate toss-up of sorts. However, his absence leaves a significant damper on things, especially if Davies remains limited to some degree as well. Yes, Canada played fairly well against Morocco during a 2-1 loss back in the 2022 World Cup, but these aren’t the same squads as we saw last time. The Moroccans are more aggressive than they were last time around and have developed talent, and now, they’re coming off regular-time draws against other top nations. If they could hang with Brazil and the Netherlands, this match may be much less of a challenge.

That’s not to say the Canadians may not scrap their way to keeping this game close. The defense can certainly step up when needed, but in the end, Morocco is the more talented team and is on the upswing after announcing their arrival back in 2022.

Best Bet: Morocco ML (-110)
