The International Planning and Development Forum kicked off in Tripoli on Sunday. The two-day event is organized by the Ministry of Planning in cooperation with the Arab Planning Institute of Kuwait and the Planning Institute in Tripoli. It is attended by Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, alongside government officials, experts, and specialists in planning and development.
In his opening remarks, Dbeibah said that building strong states begins with a clear vision and sound planning, describing the forum as a platform for exchanging expertise, building partnerships, and developing practical strategies capable of addressing challenges while supporting stability and development.
He stressed that planning is no longer merely an administrative option, but a national necessity and a fundamental tool for safeguarding stability, achieving sustainable development, and improving citizens’ quality of life.
Dbeibah added that the Government of National Unity has, from the outset, adopted an institutional approach based on strategic planning by developing the country’s institutional planning system, aligning public spending with national priorities, strengthening governance and transparency, and improving government performance. He emphasized that development is a comprehensive state project built on good governance, the efficient use of resources, and the transformation of plans into tangible results.
The Forum aims to promote a culture of strategic planning, facilitate the exchange of expertise and best practices among national and regional institutions, strengthen capacity-building in planning and development, and discuss modern development policies. It also seeks to produce practical recommendations to enhance institutional performance and advance sustainable development in Libya.
The event features workshops and specialized sessions covering development planning, investment and economic development, the green economy, and the Sustainable Development Goals, with participation from leading experts and specialists.
