Haiti may be out of the World Cup, but it’s at least going home with a goal. What a moment for the Haitians. And what a blow for Morocco’s hopes of winning the group

ATLANTA — The opening for Morocco-Haiti in Atlanta Stadium is ear-splittingly loud, and this is a stadium — under its corporate name that we shall not mention — has hosted a Super Bowl, an NCAA football championship and a Metallica concert. Haiti hasn’t had much success in World Cups, but their fans are celebrating like they’re going all the way. (They’re not, they’ve already been eliminated.)

Oh no, what a blunder at the back for Scotland. Vini Jr. scores one of the easiest goals he’ll ever have.

What a terrible turnover by Scott McKenna.

Very patient start in Miami for Brazil and Scotland. Unsurprising. Both teams would be perfectly happy with a draw (as long as Morocco doesn’t blow out Haiti)

After missing out on Brazil’s first two matches, Neymar is available off the bench for Carlo Ancelotti. The 34-year-old has been dealing with a hamstring strain, but returned to full training last week.

“He can play, just like the others,” Ancelotti said. “We are very happy that he is back because, obviously, he has a lot of quality and can help the team.”

    Qualified: None
    Eliminated: Haiti

First place in Group C remains up for grabs.

Brazil can secure the group with a win over Scotland. Morocco advances with a win or draw against Haiti and can also finish first by making up the goal difference on Brazil.

Scotland can clinch a spot in the Round of 32 with a victory over Brazil and could even leap to first place if Morocco drops points. A draw could also be enough, though Scotland would need help.

    Group B table

    1. Switzerland – 7 points (+4 GD)
    2. Canada – 4 points (+5 GD)
    3. Bosnia and Herzegovina – 4 points (-1 GD)
    4. Qatar – 1 point (-8 GD)

Bosnia and Herzegovina closed out its group stage with a 3-1 victory to eliminate Qatar and finish third in Group B while putting itself in position to advance to the Round of 32 as one of the tournaments eight best third place teams. With four points Bosnia is likely headed for a showdown with the United States the winner of Group D on July 1 in Santa Clara, California.

Ermin Mahmic added another goal to his growing World Cup legacy becoming Bosnia’s all-time leading scorer at the tournament.

Bosnia controlled the match throughout, out-shooting Qatar 14 to 7 and putting five shots on target while limiting the 2023 Asian Cup champions to just one shot on goal.

  • Yahoo Sports Staff

That’s how it’ll end, with Switzerland on top of the group and Canada finishing as runners-up. Bosnia will finish in third place and will likely face the U.S. in the first round of the knockout stage, but that’s still to be determined.

  • Yahoo Sports Staff

The Canadians have been pressing for a late goal, but it hasn’t borne fruit as of yet. We’re in stoppage time now as the two teams vie for the top Group B spot and presumably a better path in the knockout round.
