DR Congo hopes to stage a surprise in Zapopan on Tuesday as it faces Colombia less than a week after sharing the spoils with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal. Yoane Wissa’s equalizer was enough to hold the Selecao at bay in Houston, and Sebastien Desabre’s side now look to bank their first win of the tournament on Mexican soil.

Colombia is already off the mark in that regard after beating Uzbekistan 3-1 in its curtain-raiser, where Luis Diaz and Daniel Munoz were among those on the score sheet. However, it only gets more difficult from here for Los Cafeteros as they prepare for a climactic showdown against group favorite Portugal.

DR Congo’s gameplan may expand in this clash after lining up with five in defense against Portugal. However, there’s a lot to be said for that same counter strategy working its magic again after Wissa and Cedric Bakambu led the line with aplomb getting a result out of Portugal.

That’s especially the case against a Colombia side packing so much firepower thanks to Diaz, James Rodriguez and Sporting CP striker Luis Suarez (not that one). The Leopards are hoping to advance beyond the World Cup group stage for the first time in only their second finals appearance after a 52-year absence from the tournament.
