22 June 2026 – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Sunday held talks with President William Ruto during a visit to Kenya, with the two leaders discussing ways of strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing regional cooperation.
According to the Somali Embassy in Kenya, the meeting took place at President Ruto’s farm in Narok County and focused on deepening ties between the neighbouring countries and advancing shared interests in peace, security, and development.
The two Heads of State reaffirmed the importance of continued collaboration between Somalia and Kenya, particularly in efforts aimed at promoting stability and economic growth across the Horn of Africa region.
The leaders also emphasized the need for sustained cooperation in addressing common challenges, including security threats and cross-border issues, while exploring opportunities to strengthen trade and development partnerships.
Kenya and Somalia maintain close diplomatic and economic relations, with the two countries working together on regional peace and security initiatives through the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the East African Community (EAC), and other multilateral platforms.
