PRESS RELEASE

Senegal Participates in U.S. Navy Fleet Exercise in Norfolk, Virginia

The United States is proud to welcome the Senegalese Navy as a participant in Fleet Exercise (FLEETEX) 250, hosted by the U.S. Navy in Norfolk, Virginia. Senegal is one of only two African countries deploying naval assets as part of this historic multinational exercise, which brings together the navies of 18 nations.

This occasion holds special significance. As the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence, sailors from the Senegalese Navy will join their U.S. counterparts for the Freedom 250 celebrations in Norfolk. Senegalese sailors will take part in the festivities, including a fireworks display over the harbor, before participating in the at-sea phase of the exercise.

Following the exercise, the Senegalese Navy vessel will set course for New York, where it will participate in the International Naval Review 250, a ceremony scheduled for July 4 that will bring together ships from 27 nations.
