Vodacom’s Mezzanine Eyes Expansion In Agri & Healthcare Sectors

Mezzanine, the innovative tech subsidiary of the Vodacom Group, is actively pursuing expansion opportunities across Africa, focusing on agriculture and healthcare to drive digital transformation.

Videsha Proothveerajh, Director of Vodacom Business, said: “Mezzanine is actively exploring several expansion opportunities across various sectors in Africa.

“These include initiatives in agriculture, such as the Agri Vouchering solution for livestock in Kenya and the M-Kulima program in Tanzania. Additionally, Mezzanine is pursuing opportunities in the healthcare sector.”

This sector-focused approach allows Mezzanine to demonstrate its adaptability and commitment to solving Africa’s most pressing challenges.

Agriculture: eVuna & M-Kulima Driving Growth

Mezzanine’s Connected Farmer platform (eVuna) has already transformed small-scale farming in Kenya, with 6 million registered farmers and 3.5 million digital vouchers redeemed. Now, the company is expanding its Agri Vouchering solution to livestock farmers, ensuring broader impact.

In Tanzania, M-Kulima continues to empower 3.2 million farmers with digital tools for better productivity and market access.

A Start-Up with Vodacom’s Global Backing

Operating as a tech start-up with the support of Vodacom and Vodafone, Mezzanine combines agility with multinational scale. Its solutions are already deployed in South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Mozambique, Zambia, Kenya, Liberia, and Tanzania.

“Focusing on sectors rather than specific solutions allows Mezzanine to highlight its broad impact and adaptability,” Proothveerajh added. “This approach emphasises our commitment to scalable, sustainable growth.”

With a strong foundation in AgriTech and growing momentum in digital healthcare, Mezzanine is poised to deepen its footprint across Africa. By aligning with government agencies, development partners, and private businesses, the company aims to bridge digital divides and foster inclusive economic growth.

As Mezzanine continues to innovate, its sector-wide initiatives will remain key to unlocking Africa’s digital potential.
