Sacha key part of Stormers’ Project 2029 plans

The Stormers hope to extend the contract of flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu as coach John Dobson looks to the future.

Netwerk24 reports that the 23-year-old flyhalf is among a group of players who will form part of “Project 2029”.

“We have an incredible generation of young players. The Western Province U21 team has won the provincial tournament for the past two seasons and is currently top of the log again,” Dobson told Netwerk24. “We are very keen to keep the core of the current group together.”

Dobson said the Stormers would also use squad veterans to help develop youngsters.

Springbok Deon Fourie, 38, is the ideal mentor for openside flank Paul de Villiers, while young hookers Lukhanyo Vokozela and Keagan Blanckenberg can learn a lot from 34-year-old hooker Scarra Ntubeni.

Scrumhalves Imad Khan and Asad Moos, both 21, should also benefit from having 35-year-old Bok scrumhalf Cobus Reinach in the squad next season.

Meanwhile, Netwerk24 claims the Stormers will not look to bring Bok captain Siya Kolisi, 34, back to Cape Town but rumours persist that they want to re-sign winger Cheslin Kolbe, who is currently playing his club rugby in Japan.
