A small nodule was detected in former President Joe Biden’s prostate during a ‘routine physical examination’ as confirmed by a spokesperson to ABC News on May 13.
The spokesperson indicated that this finding necessitated further evaluation, highlighting that the term “small nodule” can encompass a variety of conditions, making additional testing essential to determine its nature.
It remains uncertain whether the nodule is a benign result of inflammation or indicative of a more serious issue.
In February 2023, while in office, Biden had a cancerous lesion removed from his chest, and prior to his presidency, he underwent Mohs surgery for several non-melanoma skin cancers.
Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the White House physician, added that the biopsy of the lesion confirmed it as basal cell carcinoma, with all cancerous tissue successfully excised and no further treatment required.
He explained that while basal cell carcinoma typically does not metastasize like more aggressive skin cancers, it can grow larger, posing potential challenges for surgical removal.
O’Connor also mentioned that the biopsy site has healed well, and the President will continue to receive dermatologic monitoring as part of his comprehensive healthcare plan.
