Upholding the Legacy of Msuya Through Visionary Development

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, joined various national leaders to bid farewell to the late Cleopa David Msuya, who served as the First Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania and a former Prime Minister, who passed away a few days ago. 

The farewell ceremony for the late Msuya took place at the ‘Karimjee Grounds in Dar es Salaam, where the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, led the nation in this significant event.

 In his remarks, President Mwinyi, on behalf of the people of Zanzibar, described the late Cleopa Msuya as a distinguished leader who served the nation with exceptional patriotism. 

He said that Tanzanians have lost a steadfast leader and a ” true believer ” in the unity and integration of Tanzania. 

Furthermore, President Dr. Mwinyi noted that the late Msuya prioritized national interests, especially during times when Tanzania faced global economic changes, alongside efforts to strengthen economic diplomacy. 

President Mwinyi called upon Tanzanians to continue the vision of the late Cleopa Msuya by working diligently to ensure the nation makes further progress in development.

The late Cleopa David Msuya passed away on May 7, 2025, at the age of 94, while receiving treatment at Mzena Hospital in Dar es Salaam.

 He is expected to be laid to rest in Usangi Village, Mwanga, Kilimanjaro region, on the Tuesday of next week.
