The PSL big three – Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates – have all begun negotiations to lure top talent this offseason.
It will be a redemption transfer window for the Buccaneers, who failed to lure any talent this offseason and are arguably paying the price for their lack of world-class depth.
However, the Monnapule Saleng saga certainly hasn’t helped.
Who wants who?
- PSL Player of the Year frontrunner Lucas Ribeiro Costa has several European suitors, including French side Lille, after his services. According to reports, Mamelodi Sundowns wants R100 million for the 26-year-old.
- Monnapule Saleng’s future at Orlando Pirates is as certain as predicting the weather; no one knows what will unravel in the upcoming winter window.
- PSL phenom Relebohile Mofokeng has several African giants after his services, including Zamalek, who had an R25.8 million bid rejected in January, and Al Ahly.
- Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are battling for uSuthu star Tshepang Moremi.
What about Mayele?
Meanwhile, Chiefs target and Pirates heartbreaker Fiston Mayele has been offered a two-year extension at Pyramids, potentially derailing AmaKhosi’s chances of luring the in-form forward to the PSL.
“They are doing everything to keep him [Mayele]. They know there is interest not just from Kaizer Chiefs but other clubs as well and they want to make sure they keep him. So they have offered him a new two-year contract which increases his value as well,” Soccer Laduma reported.
